WAX Core Features

· DPoS Consensus Mechanism: WAX network uses a variation of the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism called the Delegated Proof-of-Stake. This consensus mechanism allows widespread governance by enabling holders to delegate their voting power. This voting power is dependent on the number of tokens staked by holders; the higher your stake, the more power you have to elect a delegate.

The elected delegates are responsible for validating new blocks on the network. When one delegate validates a block, the other elected delegates will confirm and approve the transaction (all within seconds), and then participants will receive rewards according to their participation. WAX Governance also allows its holders to vote on new proposals and projects to be launched on the WAX blockchain.

DPoS is optimal for WAX and other e-commerce blockchains since it uses significantly less energy than Proof-of-Work.

· WAX Tokenomics: WAX network updated its tokenomic model at the end of Q2 2021 to capitalize on the growth of DeFi and NFTs. The model is focused on providing benefits to WAX token holders by fostering economic growth with an Ethereum bridge.

WAX regards the Ethereum network as the de-facto monetary blockchain; hence, the WAX-ETH bridge is created to express WAX’s economic activity on Ethereum, particularly on NFT transactions. This is achieved by creating three ERC-20 tokens (WAXE, WAXG, and WAX-ETH Liquidity pool)

WAXE: WAXE tokens are generated by swapping 80% of transaction fees generated in WAXP at a ratio of 1,000 WAXP to 1 WAXE. This creates a deflationary model for WAXP, reducing supply, and increasing value for holders.

The newly generated WAXE tokens are funneled into the WAX Economic Activity pool.

WAXE-ETH: The WAXE-ETH liquidity pool is created when the generated WAXE tokens are deposited with ETH in the pool for DeFi transactions; WAXE-ETH Token holders who stake their tokens in the WEAP will receive rewards in WAXG.

· WAX Rewards: WAX offers staking rewards, block member rewards, and guild rewards.

Staking Rewards are earned by staking tokens and participating in governance; staking rewards are obtained in proportion to overall stake weight. For example, if a holder’s share of the entire staked tokens is 1%, they will earn 1% in allotted staking rewards.

Genesis Block Member (GBM) Rewards were earned from Genesis WAX tokens gained from participating in the WAX token swap in 2019. The rewards can only be claimed for people who haven’t un-staked their tokens yet; once a GBM WAX token is un-staked, it permanently becomes a regular WAXP token and will be unable to earn future GBM rewards.

Guild Rewards incentivize the guilds that produce blocks and maintain the WAX blockchain. The WAX blockchain comprises 21 guilds and 36 standby guilds; they earn rewards for maintaining the WAX blockchain.
