Tezos Core Features

· Liquid Proof of Stake Consensus Mechanism: Tezos uses a variation of the regular Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism called the Liquid Proof of Stake Consensus. This algorithm validates transactions, secures the network, and mints new XTZ tokens.

To validate transactions on the Tezos network, network participants need to "bake" their tokens, i.e., stake a minimum of 8,000 XTZ tokens in special contracts. This process mints new XTZ tokens distributed to bakers in proportion to their stake. Other users who don't have 8000 XTZ can delegate their tokens to bakers to win rewards minted from Tezos mining. Typically, delegators earn 6% ROI on their delegated XTZ tokens.

Bakers are incentivized to act in honesty because they can lose their delegators, who have the freedom to easily delegate their tokens to a new baker.

· Tezos Governance: Tezos Governance is undertaken similarly to network security and transaction validation. Bakers (who have voting rights to delegators' tokens) can vote on new blockchain proposals. The voting process is distributed into 4 periods of 23 days each. They include:

Ø  The Proposal Period: This period allows any baker to submit blockchain improvement proposals, after which proposals with the highest votes proceed to the next stage.

Ø  The Exploration Vote Period: In this period, votes are subjected to further deliberation, and only proposals supported by a super-majority (80%) proceed to the next stage.

Ø  The Testing Period: The Blockchain implements the consensus proposal on a test net to ensure the security of the improvement proposal. If safe, the proposal will move to the final voting stage.

Ø  The Promotion Vote Period: Here, the bakers have a last chance to review their votes after seeing the test-net performance. The proposal will go through if the super-majority (80%) is satisfied.

They get rewarded if a baker's proposal is implemented after the voting period.
